Team CTV to Participate in Alpe d’HuZes 2026

As a proud family business deeply rooted in the region, CTV places great importance on social responsibility. That is why CTV is participating in Alpe d’HuZes 2026 with its own team: a special sporting event where participants each year raise as much money as possible to support cancer research and improve the quality of life for people living with cancer. Through our participation, we aim to provide perspective, hope, and action when it is needed most.

Alpe d’HuZes: combining sport and social impact

Alpe d’HuZes is a unique event that brings together athletic effort and social engagement. Each year, thousands of participants commit themselves to raising funds for cancer research and improving the lives of those affected by cancer. On the first Thursday of June, around 5,000 participants cycle, run, or walk up Alpe d’Huez up to six times, under the motto: giving up is not an option. Since 2006, over €245 million has been raised.

Stronger together: the power of the tandem

Participating in Alpe d’HuZes represents more than a sporting achievement. It is both a physical and mental challenge with real impact. For (former) cancer patients who cannot climb Alpe d’Huez independently, we make participation possible by riding together on a tandem. Team CTV will start with three tandems and two accompanying cyclists, enabling participants to experience the iconic climb together.

The tandem perfectly symbolizes the spirit of this initiative: we are stronger together. Cycling together means sharing the effort, enduring the challenge, and celebrating the achievement. At CTV, we believe no one should face this alone.

The challenge: Alpe d’Huez

Climbing Alpe d’Huez is an impressive feat. The route stretches over 14 kilometres, with an average gradient of around 8 percent. After 21 hairpin bends, participants reach the finish line at an altitude of 1,800 metres.

To be fully prepared, all Team CTV participants follow a structured training programme under the guidance of experienced coaches. Step by step, we build endurance, technique, and teamwork, so that everyone can approach the climb with confidence. Every training session brings us closer to the moment we stand together at the foot of Alpe d’Huez.

A special first training day

It was inspiring to see so many friends, family members, partners, and supporters present at the first training session. Their commitment and motivation made the day extra special, underlining why this initiative is so meaningful.

Before the training began, attendees were welcomed with a detailed presentation by Michel de Bock, CEO of CTV Group, and Jan Vinken, coordinator of Team CTV Alpe d’HuZes, outlining the initiative and programme. This was followed by a photo opportunity with participants, friends, and family to capture the moment. Under loud applause and cheers, the training officially commenced. The participants quickly found their rhythm, completing a technical exercise to improve tandem handling, and finished the morning with broad smiles. The training ran smoothly and set the perfect tone for the journey ahead. Motivated and energized, the team is ready for the next sessions.

We are proud to provide an environment where people can train, connect, and support each other.

On the road to Alpe d’HuZes

The coming months will be dedicated to training, preparation, and working together toward the moment Team CTV conquers Alpe d’Huez. Training locations include Hinsbeck and the Cauberg in Valkenburg. It will be an intensive process, but the team’s motivation is high. Progress updates will be shared via our online channels over the coming months.

Cycling for others

Every participant has their own motivation. For some, it stems from a personal experience with cancer; for others, from the awareness of its impact on family, friends, and loved ones. What unites us is the belief that together we can make a difference. Every bend. Every tear. Every euro. Through our participation, we turn helplessness into strength. We cycle for everyone facing the fight against cancer and for those who have lost loved ones. We cycle for more time, better treatments, and a higher quality of life.
